FEATURED ARTISTS

Rosie Hosking - Guest Vocalist

Rosie studied Classical Voice at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide. As her studies were winding to a close it was decided that she should audition for a professional music theatre production, ‘just for the experience’. The creative team for ‘Phantom of the Opera’ liked what they saw and soon she found herself performing in the professional production throughout Australia and New Zealand for the next 4 years. This was the start of her passion for all things Musical Theatre.

Not to ever gloss over anything, or leave any stone unturned (did someone say slightly OCD?) Rosie’s passion for singing soon turned into a fascination for how the voice works. This has led her onto a journey of discovery over many years of honing her skills as a sought after and respected voice specialist. Rosie teaches singing from her home studio and you can often find touring music theatre professionals in her waiting room as they pass through Adelaide. Rosie also teaches the next generation of Music Theatre performers at the Adelaide University’s Elder Conservatorium, which is where it also started for her years earlier.

Growing up Rosie loved watching the Sunday afternoon movies, with musical classics likes Easter Parade (Garland and Astair), Singing in the Rain (Reynolds and Kelly) and also Calamity Jane with Doris Day. She still loves Doris, so much so she named her coffee machine after her. Blend these early loves with discovering rock artists like Johnny Diesel (her first crush), John Farnham and INXS and there’s no wonder her musicality is so broad.

Rosie is what we would call a true ‘musical all-rounder’ and can still be found flexing her ‘classical’ muscles with the State Opera, performing in professional Music Theatre productions as well as tapping into her rock sensibilities with Distempo. Is there anything she can’t do? Well, apart from keeping a pot plant alive….we say “no”!
